Yu Dong
Head Coach
Yu has a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Coaching and a Masters of Teaching in Personal Development, Health, and Physical Education. Yu has also completed a Postgraduate Diploma of Sport Management. Yu holds an Advanced Coach certification with Swimming Australia.
Yu has developed and coached National Age and Open swimmers and medallists in both Australia and China. His international experience includes coaching the Shanghai Swim Team.
Yu himself swam for the Shanghai State Team and was the State Age Champion in the 200m Fly in 1995, 97, 98, and 99 and 200m Breaststroke Champion in 1996. He was a National Age Silver Medallist for 200m Fly from 1996-99.
Yu believes that participating in sports as a child not only builds character and confidence but also gives swimmers a sense of accomplishment. Yu is a coach because of his passion for his work. He believes in nurturing swimmers dreams to be the best in and out of swimming pool.
Tom Rayner
Senior Coach
Tom holds an Advanced Coach certification with Swimming Australia and has 8 years’ experience working across a range of swimmer stages from Learn-to-Swim to State Medallists to National Age Qualifiers. Previously Tom was a competitive swimmer with IAP for 12 years, his main stroke being Breaststroke.
Tom has two degrees in Sport and Exercise Science from Victoria University. During this time, he worked in elite athletics, assisting two Olympic sprinters, and aiding in the technical analysis of Samuel Williamson (50m Breaststroke World Champion & Australian Record Holder).
As a coach, Tom likes to take a strong technique-focused approach to training and development, especially with younger athletes. Tom strives to extract the potential from each individual swimmer.
Alouette Clark
Coach
Alouette has been at IAP for 5 years, for 3 of those years she was a swimmer herself, competing at Age Nationals as a Backstroker in 2020 and 2021. In 2022, Alouette began coaching for the club and has since gained her Development Coaching accreditation with Swimming Australia. She is currently studying Biomedicine at the University of Melbourne.
Alouette mostly coaches the Junior and Intermediate squads. She loves working with all the younger swimmers to help them engage and have fun in each session, while also improving their swimming. Alouette looks forward to seeing young IAP swimmers continue to grow and excel in their swimming.
